On the obstacles that this team faced, the period of 21 years without a relevant title (a split Paulista (Sao Paulo state) Championship with others), made the fans suffer, however the number of supporters growed during this period, something unusual for a team in crisis.

The 21 years period ended in September 1977, when a tough game made Corinthians the paulista champion of that year, in a memorable goal where the ball relucted to finally going to the opposite net (Basilio scored). The number 7 is a special number for Corinthians.
