Corinthians played and won the first FIFA Club World Championship in 2000, in a tournement involving Real Madrid, Manchester United almongst other champions from other continents.
Before that, the winner of the America´s cup and European league played in a single game, also in Japan, in a tournement called intercontinental cup.
In 2012, Corinthians will play for it´s second FIFA Club World Championship title. Only FC Barcelona won this title twice, including 2011 title.
